Religion: Ezinne Mercy Duru was a devoted Christian who believed in our Lord Jesus Christ as the only Son of God, who watches over his Children and asks us all to Love one another as he loved us. She was a member of the Anglican Comminion and was conferred to the title of Christian Mothers called EZINNE. She was a God Mother to several people christined in the Church. She was instrumental in the conversion of several members of her family to the Lord. She profoundly believed that every human being is equal in the eyes of the Lord. Marriage: Mama was married to our father in 1949 and believed in the popular saying that says For Better For Worse. She believed in the sanctity of marriage and inculcated the idea to her children. She was a peace-maker to families in dispute. Education: Mama, believed in education hence she made sure that all her children would need to be educated to be able to make it in life. Herself did not have the opportunity of progressing in education after the elementary school, due to the ignorant attitude of parents who did not believe in women's education. She made every effort to support her children through education and many others. Social: Mama was a leader of people and organizer. She was women leader in the Community from her many years in Aba, Owerri and Umuozu in Imo State, Nigeria. She was well liked by many in her group and beyond. She treated everybody fairly and listened to people with issues from time to time in order to resolve them. Mama would be remembered as a Lady of the people who was prepared to devote some time to their problems.She was also a giver. Search for Survival: Mama worked tirelessly to support her extended family including others around her. She was an enterprising woman who embarked on several trades to make sure that her children had food on the table. She supported her husband in every way to cater for the well-being of the family. She was a 'Woman of Steel' who instilled a sense of purpose to her children. Even when she was sick, she never stopped supporting her family and Loving God the ALMIGHTY. Her faith comes first followed by her family. She would go hungry only to feed her children. She loved all her daughters-In-law and Son-In-Law. She was very fond of her grand-children and their development. She was a welcoming and a caring Mother. We, the children, and grand-children, daughters-In-Law and Son-In-Law, friends and the extended family will miss her immensely.
